SILENT NITE
APPLIANCE
I have made half a
dozen different designs of anti-snore devices and the Silent Nite has had the
best results. In fact I have been wearing one for more than 2 years with
the full approval of my son (who had to wake me up many times because of my
snoring).
It usually takes 4
days to get accustomed to the appliance. During the first week of wearing
the device, be patient. I rarely have to modify these appliances after
delivery, but of course, we are happy to make modifications if needed.
Some patients have complained of chapped lips during the first few weeks.
We are happy to provide lip balm at the reception desk. Jaw soreness is
common in the first week but usually goes away. If it persists more than
one week, please contact us.
It is normal for
either the upper or lower appliance to become unseated from the teeth during
wide opening. The teeth return to the correct position when the jaws are
closed.
These Silent Nite
appliances may turn a yellowish tan after about a year. This does not
indicate any contamination or weakening. You can clean the device with
liquid hand soap or toothpaste and a toothbrush. You may also soak it in a
cup of water with bleach once a month, but do not return it to your mouth
without rinsing thoroughly. Bleach burns oral tissues.
Once in a great
while the nylon side bars of the device break. We have plenty of them and
will be happy to replace them.
Keep this device
(and ALL oral devices) away from DOGS. They absolutely love chewing them,
not realizing that it is the most expensive chew toy around...
I would like to
hear your results in the first week and first month of using the device.
So far, my success rate is better than the published results, but I want to be
sure I am getting all the input I need.
